let go and let god: quotes from the uddhava gita by Swami Vishwaparanthapananda
I recently read a satsang in which Sri Swami Vishwananda described the elements that make it easier to work with the Divine. He spoke of Narasingadev and how he destroys our presumed negativity. He spoke also of how we may be afraid of allowing this to happen. The reality is that anytime we fight against the grace of God’s love we feel pain. Pain invites us to let go; letting go is realizing God’s power. We have no control whatsoever; God is always triumphant. He finds you wherever you may hide because He is the cause of everything that happens to you.
The Uddhava Gita Dialogue 8, Verse 30- 33
30. As long as the world of multiplicity is real to you, you are asleep. Even while you are awake. Like someone who imagines themselves awake while they are dreaming.
31. All things that appear as multiplicity, not simply on this earth but even those that seem to belong to the heavenly spheres- All are as unreal as the objects seen by the dreamer in a dream.
32. Awake, a person conceives a world filled with objects external to themselves asleep, these objects are perceived within the person as a dream. In deep sleep, the internal and external both disappear. But through all these states the Atman (True Self) remains the ever-conscious witness and the continuity that connects them.
33. Look upon the world as an illusion. A transitory creation of the mind, here today gone tomorrow. In the grip of the three states of consciousness which are generated by the wildly fluctuating gunas (tamas-inertia, rajas-action, satva-purity). Root out this idea of I, with the sword of wisdom sharpened by devotion and worship of the Guru.
